About Alta

Alta is a small mountain community of fewer than 500 people located at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon in the far eastern part of Salt Lake County next to Alta & Snowbird Ski Resorts. A wide variety of terrain and spectacular alpine scenery combine to create a unique setting for the diverse outdoor lifestyle. In the winter, the town is a world-renowned ski area with visitors from all over the world. Alta has an average snowfall of over 500 inches of light, dry snow.  Alta is located approximately 30 minutes from the Salt Lake International Airport.
